Matano unleashes fury on ‘useless’ referee after barren draw against Posta

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano was left infuriated by match referee David Mulongo who he termed as the “poorest referee he has seen” following his team’s barren draw with Posta Rangers at the Ruaraka Grounds on Sunday afternoon. In a game that lacked many opportunities, Matano felt as if the few advantages and chances they created were ultimately denied by the referee and his officiating crew, pointing to an instance in the game that saw him booked for dissent. The moment came in the 65th minute when Posta Rangers right back Elvis Osok handled a looping ball inside the box, an incident Mulongo waved play on, sparking wild scenes from the Tusker bench.🤯🤯🤯🤯 pic.twitter.com/6eJARph4js— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) December 10, 2023 Matano, visibly frustrated with the call (as seen at the bottom of the above video), stormed to the pitch in protest, only to get yellow carded.“Very poor,” Matano said at full time when asked about the officiating. “He [Mulongo] is the poorest referee I have seen. Very useless.”He continued: “It’s just not one incident. One, two, three clear opportunities were denied. How is it that everybody else but him sees them? That’s not football. Obvious robbery. Daylight robbery!”##NAJAVA_MECA_7729405##Matano was led to believe that the overall officiating was schemed, saying: “He did it purposely. Its as if he was bribed or something … just to make sure we didn’t win.”Questioned on the next course of action, the coach said that the referee “should be expelled and suspended because he is killing football” while also stating that his players’ spirit was affected, since they had played organized football and with determination, but dropped points in an unfair manner.”I will never forgive him. He is not fit enough to officiate in the Talanta Hela tournament”Tusker coach Robert Matano didn’t have kind words on centre referee David Mulongo and the performance he put in their barren draw against Posta Rangers at Ruaraka Grounds. pic.twitter.com/fGgpYHp4gd— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) December 10, 2023 “I have lost many games and rarely complain about anything,” he said. “There was no fair-play today.”Asked about the overall feel of officiating this season, Matano referenced the refereeing in his previous game – against AFC Leopards last Monday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos – where FIFA listed Peter Waweru Kamaku was in charge and said: “Superb referee who even if you draw, you get the feeling that it was correctly called and sure.”“For others, it’s as if they come to games with fixed minds – to favor your opponents.”His opposite on the day, John Kamau, brushed any questions about the officiating, instead going on Matano for his “conclusions.”“Football is an emotional game and it is very unfair to make such conclusions,” he said, referring to Matano’s submissions to the press, which he overheard. “As coaches, I believe we should be in a position to harness emotions when reacting to results.”FKFPL: Bidco edges AFC Leopards as Tusker is held by Posta in drab contestKamau was himself frustrated with some calls at various points in the game, and could be seen moving out of his technical area while asking some questions to the lineman who shockingly couldn’t arrive at the same conclusions with Muhongo on corners and throw-ins.With the result, Tusker are 12th with 16 points while Posta dropped to third with their fifth draw of the season.
