Participants of the recently concluded CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Zone enjoyed great benefits of being a part of the innovative CAF tournament after completing the various capacity building programmes that ran on the sidelines of the competition.The CECAFA Zone successfully concluded its CAF African Schools Football Championships on Wednesday, where Uganda was crowned champions of the competition in both the boys and girls divisions.Uganda girls overpowered Kenya 2-1, while the boys team excelled on post-match penalties – after a 1-1 draw in regulation – to see out Tanzania in the two finals played at the Moi International Sport Stadium – Kasarani.Uganda sneak past Kenya to clinch CECAFA Zone CAF African Schools Football Championship Girls’ TitleRunning concurrently to the competition was CAF’s various capacity building programmes which included the Young Reporters Programme, Young Team Doctors Programme, Young Referees and Young Coaches programme.More than 700 participants received their certificates in a closing ceremony attended by various CAF and CECAFA delegates at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.Eliud takes up mentorship role for U20 World Athletics Athlete Refugee TeamDoris Petra, the Football Kenya Federation Vice President said they are happy that it was not only football being played during these tournaments, but CAF was intentional about imparting knowledge and transferring skills to produce future African leaders.The CAF African Schools Football Championship continues across the various CAF Zones with COSAFA taking center stage between 14 – 16 December.##NAJAVA_MECA_7738585##There will be a total of 20 fixtures played on the opening day, with 20 more scheduled for Friday.All games will be staged at Gateway High School in Harare, Zimbabwe. ©CAF Online.
