If it wasn’t for the surprising 1-1 draw against Genoa last week, Juventus would now spend at least a few hours no the top of the Serie A table, but even with a win today against Frosinone, the Italian giants are one point behind Inter Milan, who are playing Lecce in the evening. It was one of those rare games in which Juventus had to score two goals in a match in order to win, and it was former Arsenal target Dušan Vlahović who brought the victory with a fantastic header in the 81st minute for the final 2-1 score.1 – Today Kenan #Yildiz became the youngest foreign goalscorer in the Juventus history in #SerieA (18 years and 233 days). The visitors took and early lead and never looked like wanting to score the second one, but rather to keep it tight at the back and attack only if necessary. And the home team took advantage of that and equalized in the 50th minute, only to see Vlahović denying them half an hour later. It was another game in which Juve wasn’t defeated after leading at halftime, a remarkable 36 Serie A matches stretch dating back to 2021.DUSAAAAAAAAAAAN! WHAT A HEADER 🔥pic.twitter.com/prLP6yVl9W— Max Statman (@emaxstatman) December 23, 2023 Juve took the lead in the 11th minute after a great shot from a debutant Yildiz. The young Turk who arrived from Bayern Munich got his chance after Federico Chiesa, Moise Kean, and Mattia De Sciglio were unable to play, and he used it perfectly. He collected Kostic’s pass, squeezed past three players in the box and fired the ball into the bottom corner for the lead. There was not much else to report in the opening 45 minutes as the game got more interesting in the second half. Both clubs had their game changing chances: McKenna with a blasting shot which shook the post, and Harroui on the other side had a similar shop which was denied by keeper Szczesny. Vlahović added the third goal in the 88th minute, but it was denied due to offside.SERIE A – MATCHDAY 17Friday Empoli – Lazio 0-2 (0-1)/Guandouzi 9, Zaccagni 67/Sassuolo – Genoa 1-2 (1-0)/Pinamonti 28 – Gudmundsson 64, Ekuban 87/Monza – Fiorentina 0-1 (0-1)/Beltran 7/Salernitana – Milan 2-2 (1-1)/Fazio 42, Candreva 63 – Tomori 17, Jovic 90/Saturday Frosinone – Juventus 1-2 (0-1)/Baez 51 – Yildiz 11, Vlahović 81/17.00: (1.77) Torino (3.50) Udinese (4.90)17.00: (2.75) Bologna (3.20) Atalanta (2.85)20.00: (1.23) Inter (6.25) Lecce (13.0)20.00: (2.45) Verona (3.40) Cagliari (3.10)22.45: (3.00) Roma (3.35) Napoli (2.55)***odds are subject to change
