Hussein Mohammed alleges violation of his rights by FKF, demands justice

In a shocking revelation, Hussein Mohammed, CEO of Extreme Sports Ltd and an official of Football Kenya Premier League (FKFPL) side Murang’a Seal, held a press conference today to expose what he claims to be a gross violation of his fundamental constitutional and association rights by some officials of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).Mohammed, who has dedicated over two decades to promoting football development across Kenya, expressed deep concern over the alleged behavior of certain FKF officials, which he believes undermines the core values of football and violates the laws of the nation.Addressing the media in Nairobi, Mohammed recounted an incident on December 31, 2023, during the Genowa Cup finals in Homa Bay County. He received a call from an FKF Homa Bay Branch official instructing him not to attend the games based on directives from the FKF head office in Nairobi. Despite being the Governor’s guest, FKF officials reportedly demanded his departure, leading to a tense standoff that was only resolved with the intervention of local authorities.”I wish this was a single isolated incident. If it were, I wouldn’t bother you today,” Mohammed lamented. “I have faced and weathered several instances of sabotage, discrimination, and isolation from mainstream football activities in the past.”This is not the first time Mohammed has faced such challenges. He cited instances of sabotage, discrimination, and isolation in the past, including FKF’s refusal to affiliate the Extreme Sports Super 8 tournament in 2015 and threats against the Ronaldinho Kenya tour in 2018.”For far too long, you have gotten away with blatant disregard of the law. The time for accountability is here,” Mohammed declared. “From now on, there will be swift and decisive legal action against any attempt to stifle our freedoms or misappropriate public resources.”Mohammed emphasized that such actions go against the principles outlined in the FIFA and CAF Statutes. According to Article 4 of the FIFA Statutes, discrimination of any kind is strictly prohibited and can result in heavy sanctions. Similarly, the CAF Statute aims to prevent practices that may jeopardize the integrity of the game and promote football free from discrimination. My statement on gross violation of my fundamental constitutional and association rights.#StopFKFImpunity pic.twitter.com/GDWWMAZDkC— Hussein Mohammed (@husseinmoha) January 5, 2024 “FIFA and CAF are strong advocates of a healthy enabling environment for the promotion of the game, and thus the acts of impunity by the FKF must be called out and condemned seriously,” Mohammed asserted.Pointing to Article 36(1) of the Kenyan Constitution, which guarantees the right to freedom of association, Mohammed asserted his determination to enjoy this right without fear or intimidation.FKF governance crisis deepens as key members lodge complaints with FIFA##NAJAVA_MECA_7781596##”I have a message to the few crooks who think they can trample on football stakeholders’ rights with impunity,” Mohammed exclaimed. “You do not own football, you do not own stadiums, you do not own the future of our youth, you do not have the right to take away anyone’s right to life, freedom of association, freedom of speech and freedom to seek any positions they seek in our society.”As he concluded his press statement, Mohammed urged progressive forces in football management to stand firm against any form of injustice. He declared that the time for accountability has arrived and that he would not tolerate further disregard for the law. The sports community now watches closely to see how this unfolding situation will impact the future of football administration in Kenya.
