FKF National Executive Committee meeting makes first step towards elections in 2024

Football Kenya Federation stakeholders have kickstarted plans towards holding FKF elections later this year after a Saturday National Executive Committee meeting in Nairobi led to the unanimous passing of several important resolutions deemed to shape Kenyan football in 2024.The NEC meeting, called upon on 29 December 2023 by FKF General Secretary Barry Otieno, came after some of its members expressed serious concerns over the failure by the federation to adhere to constitutional obligations.FKF governance crisis deepens as key members lodge complaints with FIFAIn a signed press release from FKF on Saturday morning, it was confirmed that the National Executive Committee would on 16 March 2024 hold an Annual General Meeting meant to ratify the FKF Electoral Board and Electoral Board (2020), which will both be used in the FKF elections “scheduled to be held later in the year.”The said Electoral Code, was the same one used in the October 2020 polls, and maintaining it was agreed to “provide consistency and transparency in the electoral process.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7781586##Among other resolutions passed in the meeting was the approval of the calendar for all national teams – Harambee Stars, Junior sides and women’s teams – allowing for better planning and preparations for key competitions.The NEC also approved FKF’s Competitions calendar for 2024, one that covers all the Federation’s leagues and competitions, thereby providing clarity for clubs, and allowing them to plan for their seasons effectively.The members also discussed and adopted the FKF budget for 2024, set to allocate resources “towards fulfilling FKF’s core objectives of developing football infrastructure, grassroot programs, elite player development, refereeing and competitions.”Sports CS Ababu Namwamba Firm: FKF elections should be held as scheduled in February 2024
