Nairobi City Stars maintain Muyoti will not leave club

Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti will not be leaving the club anytime soon, despite interest from struggling Shabana FC.“It’s true Shabana expressed interest in his (Nicholas Muyoti’s) services, but as management, we sat down with him and agreed that he will not be moving, at least for now,” City’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Korir told Mozzart Sport.##NAJAVA_MECA_7789261##“Besides, he (Muyoti) is still under contract,” Korir added. The former Kenya international has had an enviable run in the ongoing FKF Premier League campaign, moving Simba Wa Nairobi from the lower sections of the standings to the current second position. City is by far the most in-form team presently, having won their last six fixtures.Conversely, newcomers Shabana are gasping for air deep in the relegation zone and are in search of redemption. In 17 games played so far, the Glamour Boys have managed three wins, five draws, and nine losses. The key to City’s good performance, according to Korir, is continuous learning and motivation.“We have a young group of players who are eager to learn. Some are playing at the top level for the first time. When they make mistakes, we show them what they did wrong, and they improve.Ghost Mulee: FKF PL title race remains wide open“They belong to the same age set, meaning that there’s no feeling of superiority within the playing unit; the players are all learning and developing,” Korir said. With a lean budget after their sponsor halved their package, the management has made it a habit to live within their means and only promise what they can deliver.“The budget is not huge, but we’re managing. If we promise to pay something, for example, winning bonuses, we make sure we do it. This has been a motivating factor,” Korir said.Despite surpassing their half-season target, the club will not put pressure on the players to win the league. “Our target for this season was to finish in the top ten; we shall stick to that, but if the team does better, then it would be a bonus.”CAF launches another ticket sales phase for AFCON 2023
