Cameroon and ten-man Guinea played out to a one-all draw in an African Cup of Nations group C match staged at the Stade de Yamoussoukro stadium on Monday eveningMohamed Bayo opened the scoring for Guinea before Frank Magri drew Cameroon level to ensure that the points were shared in the duel.##NAJAVA_MECA_7796150##Guinea started the game so strongly and inside the first seven minutes, they had three chances inside the Cameroon penalty area. Bayo and Mouctar Diakhaby both came close but they failed to hit the back of the net.The pressure would eventually payoff as Bayo broke the deadlock in the 10th minute after Guinea won back possession just outside the Indomitable Lions’ penalty area. Despite protests from Cameroon over what they believed was a foul leading to the goal, the goal was cleared to stand by VAR officials.Cameroon showed a slight improvement in terms of possession after that early set back but their forward line was largely blunt and actually ended the first half without a shot on target. The Rigobert Song led side were on a number of occasions caught napping by Guinea’s quick transition but fortunately they were not punished.Just before the break, Cameroon were handed a boost and Guinea a massive blow when captain Francois Kamano was sent off for what was perceived as dangerous play after VAR intervention. The National Elephants were left with a whole second half to battle a man down.AFCON2023: Tunisia coach wary of Namibia threatSix minutes into the second half the 2017 AFCON winners got the equaliser through Frank Magri who headed home a Georges-Kevin N’Koudou cross at the far post to give Cameroon the best possible start to the second stanza of the game. The tempo of the game appeared to drop after the leveller with few chances going either way. Despite being a man down, Guinea did not look too overwhelmed and remained dangerous on the break as the Indomitable Lions tried to push numbers forward in search of a winner.A couple of half chances went the way of each of the teams but in the end, the points were shared leaving Guinea more relieved and Cameroon ruing what was a good chance to bag maximum points.Cameroon play Senegal on Friday while Guinea will be up against Gambia.AFCON 2023: Senegal spank ten-man Gambia in group C openerAFCON 2023- GROUP STAGESaturdayIvory Coast – Guinea B. 2-0 (1-0)/Fofana 4, Krasso 58/SundayNigeria – Equatorial Guinea 1-1 (1-1)/Osimhen 38 – Salvador 36/Egypt – Mozambique 2-2 (1-0)/Mohamed 2, Salah 90+7 pen – Witi 55, Bauque 58/Ghana – Cape Verde 1-2 (0-1)/Djiku 56 – Monteiro 17, Rodrigues 90+2/MondaySenegal 3-0 Gambia/Gueye 4, Camara 52, 86/Cameroon 1-1 Guinea/Magri 51-Bayo 10/23.00: (1.45) Algeria (4.10) Angola (8.50)Tuesday17.00: (1.75) Burkina Faso (3.60) Mauritania (5.70)20.00: (1.40) Tunisia (4.60) Namibia (10.5)23.00: (2.15) Mali (3.25) S.Africa (3.90)Wednesday20.00: (1.30) Morocco (5.80) Tanzania (12.0)23.00: (2.40) Dr Congo (3.20) Zambia (3.40)***odds are subject to change***
