Chelsea have new ideas about a striker and they are both in Saudi Arabia

Whole England is trembling over Financial Fair Play rules and their possible breach, but Chelsea continue to spend money under Todd Boehly and they are not looking back. Since he bought the Blues, he spent over one billion euros and bought 29 players, but guess what, he needs more. Among all those players, a classic ‘number nine’ is somehow missing. They do have Nicholas Jackson, but he is at AFCON at the moment, and even if he was back in London, his form is all but good. As we already wrote, Chelsea has a shortlist of five strikers, but it looks like nobody will come in January, so the Blues have another idea – get a proper veteran until June. Dušan Vlahović remains as a distant option from Juventus, but every team in danger of losing a good player in the middle of the season wants to get a lot of money. And while getting a proper striker like Osimhen for 100 + million would not be a problem for Boehly in June, January is a bit tricky, so the Blues are considering two options: Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino. Chelsea have five strikers on their wish listBoth are veterans, both are prone to injuries in this phase of their careers, but both are stars with ‘nose’ for scoring and are better than Jackson even on a bad day. Surprisingly, Benzema is the one who reportedly is not enjoying Saudi Arabia, even thou he signed a a three-year deal worth 258 million pounds and said it’s important be a Muslim in a Muslim country. There has been rumors of discontent between Benzema and Al-Ittihad, and that the club left him out of mid-season training camp in Dubai after he repeatedly failed to report for duty (his entourage are insisting that he is stuck in Mauritius, where he was on holiday, due to a tropical storm). If that is true, Chelsea will be looking to explore that relationship and bring him to London on a loan. Another option is Firmino, who hasn’t scored for Al-Alhi in 18 matches in all competitions since netting a hat-trick on his debut in Saudi Arabia, but the Blues believe that he would flourish in a proper team. If they move for either of them, it will happen in the next two weeks. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7805711##
