AFCON2023: Mama Joy oversees a dominant Bafana Bafana win over Namibia

Namibia was one of the surprises of the first round of AFCON with its surprise win over Tunisia. It was Brave Warriors’ first-ever AFCON game, and they entered the match against South Africa in an optimistic mood, unlike Bafana Bafana, who were shaken by the (un)surprising 2-0 defeat by Mali. But tonight, everything was different. Namibia was put back in its place, and South Africa recorded an easy and effective win, much to the joy of their travelling fans with Mama Joy at the helm: South Africa – Namibia 4:0.♦️FULL-TIME ♦️Bafana Bafana with goals from Percy Tau (P), Themba Zwane (x2), and Thapelo Maseko. Unlike the game against Mali, where South Africa had the initiative and even an early penalty but missed it all before eventually losing 2-0, tonight they did everything right. They started like against Mali, but this time, they finished like they should have in the first game. They were rewarded a penalty after a VAR review in the 14th minute since Riaan Hanamub handballed in the penalty area. Against Mali, It was a 19th-minute penalty after a VAR check and in both cases, Percy Tau took the ball, but this time, he didn’t miss it, and it was 1-0.Thapelo Maseko score the 4th goal for Bafana Bafana Hugo Broos made 2 subs of Makgopa and MorenaSouth Africa 4➖0 Namibia #RSAvsNAM#AFCON2024 pic.twitter.com/gGnBwU6ZHI— News Live SA (@newslivesa) January 21, 2024 By the end of the half, the game was over since it was already 3-0, and Namibia showed no signs of life. After Tau, it was time for Themba Zwane’s brace in the 25th and 40th minute. The Brave Warriors were neither brave nor warriors, as they had zero shots on goal in the second half, neither on or off the target. Instead, they allowed one more goal, this time from Thapelo Maseko. Bafana Bafana will play Tunisia next, and a win in that game would mean a knockout phase for them, while Namibia will have to do something against first-placed Mali if they want to continue in this competition.AFCON 2023- GROUP STAGERound 2ThursdayEquatorial Guinea – Guinea Bissau 4-2 (1-1)/Nsue 21, 51, 61, Miranda 46 – Orosco 37, Ze Turbo 90+3/Ivory Coast – Nigeria 0-1 (0-0)/Troost-Ekong 54 pen/Egypt – Ghana 2-2 (0-1)/Marmoush 69, M.
