Gor Mahia coach believes the side should have mauled Tusker

Gor Mahia coach Jonathan McKinstry believes his side should have beaten Tusker by at least two to three goals, considering their dominance. The defending champions secured a 1-0 victory on Saturday at Machakos Stadium, extending their lead at the top to ten points.##NAJAVA_MECA_7812367##“Overall, we dominated and controlled the midfield. We knew this coming into the match, and our analysis informed us that even when Tusker beat KCB 5-0 two weeks ago, the bankers had seven good chances in the game”.“Therefore, we expected that Tusker would get seven to ten chances, and we would have our opportunities to score. What I was frustrated about was that it was only 1-0.Had we won by two or three clean goals, then it would have been a fair reflection of the dominance that we had. If you look at the chances that Tusker created, apart from a first-half save from Kevin Omondi, a few blocks, and collected crosses, they did not pose much of a threat,” he said. With that win, the Gor Mahia coach believes his side has built a good cushion and can afford to stumble and still recover. He also acknowledges that winning the title will be a challenging task.“The boys have done a really good job. It was Tusker’s sixth loss of the season, and no team has lost more than six matches and won the league in the last 20 years. The win extends our position at the top. We don’t want to slip, but even if it happens, we have built a huge cushion, giving us room and time to recover”.He also defended the referee’s decision not to award Tusker a penalty in the dying minutes after the ball appeared to have hit defender Geoffrey Ochieng’s hand.“From where I was standing, if you ask me, did the ball hit his hand? My answer is yes. But the rules are very clear: If you are on the ground bracing yourself and the ball hits your hand, it’s not a penalty. I would have been outraged had Tusker been awarded a penalty.”Twaha Mbarak declares intent to lead Kenyan football
