After a surprise defeat by Werder, Bayern‘s coach Thomas Tuchel declared that the title race with Bayer Leverkusen will be tight until the end. At that point, the difference between the clubs was seven points, but after tonight‘s win over Union Berlin, it‘s slashed to ‘only‘ four. In a delayed game of the 13th round (heavy snowfall prevented the game to be played in December), Bayern defeated Union with a single goal by former Dortmund back Raphael Guerreiro, even thou the home team had plenty of chances. After the surprise defeat against Werder, this was psychologically a tough match for Tuchel‘s men, as the pressure was high, and the stories about discontent in the locker room were all over the German media.GUERREIRO’S GOAL! 🔥 pic.twitter.com/GNxIf6EO0e— Bayern & Football (@MunichFanpage) January 24, 2024 But in the end, it was an easy game, mainly due to the fact that the visitors did nothing to upset Bayern, or make them uncomfortable. The fact that they lost their most influential striker Kevin Volland due to an injury early on didn‘t help either, but they showed no effort whatsoever. The biggest sign of life from the guests came when their coach Nenad Bjelica got in an argument with Leroy Sane, and slapped him in the face, earning the red card in the process. As for Bayern, it was interesting to see that Thomas Tuchel left Alphonso Davis and Thomas Tuchel on the bench. Davis‘ replacement got the winner at the end.More and more unhappy veterans in Tuchel’s locker roomFirst half was pretty much a lullaby, a dull affair, but even in that situation, the Bavarians created some really good chances. Apart from Kane, Kingsley Coman is Bayern‘s best and most consistent player and he was like that not only with Tuchel, but also under Naglesmann and Hansi Flick. He had two excellent chances in the first half. The first one was his individual effort, but a great shot was saved by keeper Rennow. Guerreiro fed Coman minutes later, and his shot went just near the right post. Sane had his chance in injury time, but the ball went just wide right.Union Berlin head coach Nenad Bjelica was just sent off for hitting Leroy Sané.. pic.twitter.com/6USGkxmQWu— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) January 24, 2024 Second half started with a goal. Kane bursted into the penalty area and hit the woodwork, but Union defenders were clumsy, allowing the ball to reach Guerreiro, who smashed it for the lead. The Bavarians scored the second in the 59th goal, but before Kane put the ball in the net, Sane was offside, so it was denied. Everybody expected the second goal, which would „kill“ the game, but surprisingly, it never came and the score remained 1-0.BUNDESLIGA Round 13 (delayed game)Bayern Munich – Union Berlin 1-0 (1-0)/Guerreiro 46/
