Former Bandari midfielder Douglas Mokaya is demanding Sh. 2 million from the club for the unfair termination of his contract.Mokaya is among six players who have sued the club at the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) claiming millions of shillings after being dropped six months ago.According to the player, Bandari terminated his contract unprocedurally with 24 months and 25 days remaining. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7828111##At the time of the termination, Mokaya was entitled to a monthly salary of Sh.81,000.“At the end of last season, the team broke camp and were asked to report back on July 10 which I did,” he explained during Monday’s cross-examination“However to my surprise, there was no communication from the team as to when we were to resume training.I only learnt later that the team captain had been instructed to communicate with particular players about the training and I was not one of them.Later I received a letter in my email terminating my contract,” he added. Six players sue Bandari over unfair dismissalBandari vice chairman Twaha Mbarak who was also cross-examined defended their action arguing it was provided for in the employment contract.“Article 14.2 of the contract states clearly that either party can give a one-month notice or pay in lieu of notice.We followed this route because the player was deemed surplus to requirements,” he insisted.Mbarak, further stated that the club paid the player his one-month salary before terminating the contract as provided for in the employment contract. He claimed the player had refused to cooperate when summoned to be explained the reason for the termination of his contract.
