The win over Sharks, propelled the twelve-time champions to the top half of the log for the first time in the season with 27 points. While Leopards have won four consecutive matches, Sharks haven’t celebrated a win in a similar number of matches and the latest result, pushes the team into the red zone. ⏹️ 𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄Defeat#WeAreSharks pic.twitter.com/BGEt3xGy90— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) February 4, 2024 Match ReportThose who spared their precious time and made way to the facility or watched it live were treated to decent game of football from both teams whose displays were attractive to the eye. The first half produced the most entertaining bit of the game especially from Sharks whose build up, progression and creation of chances was pleasing. K Sharks probably one of the teams playing carpet football in Kenya. I’m really impressed #FootballKE— Miss Wirtz❤🖤 (@HKuriah) February 4, 2024 Leopards weren’t at the back foot as they were dangerous especially on the channels with Hassan Beja and Jaffari Owiti proving themselves a bother to the Sharks back line. The clearest of the chances on the Sharks side fell on the way of Geoffrey Onyango but the wing back couldn’t beat Levis Opiyo to his furthest corner in the 26th minute. Nonetheless, he occasionally took matters into his own hands and generated attacks through the the right channel but was let down by lack of support or his art of crossing. On the other hand of the pitch, Beja used his pace and dribbling skills to terrorize Sharks right back Biko Omolo and would have found the opener in the 29th minute after beating his marker before floating the ball past the on rushing Bernard Jairo. The ball however, flew over the bar much to the relieve of Jairo and his team who had been exposed by the move. What lacked in the half were goals as everything else from great tackles, moves, formations, defending you name it were all rife. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7845160##Second halfThe wait for the opener didn’t last long as Leopards fans were up celebrating it five minutes after restart as Omune converted from the spot. Centre referee Collins Omondi correctly pointed to the spot in the 48th minute after Jairo brought Beja down in the area, giving Omune the free hit from twelve yards. Beja had weaved his way past clustered legs in the box with each seemingly failing to take responsibility and stop him from pulling the trigger. Ulinzi Stars confirm Issa Emuria captureThis forced Jairo off the line, to salvage the situation but he came second best in the challenge leaving the whistler with no option other than to award the penalty. Just before Ingwe faithfuls could warm their seats, Munyendo sent them in frenzy as he slotted the ball home from close range to double the advantage. Fresh legs from either bench were thrown after the two quick fire goals with Leopards seeking to add more and on the other hand, Sharks looking to salvage at least a point. The most exciting change came in the 63rd minute when new signing Arthur Gitego was thown into the fray for Omune with both getting a standing ovation. Sharks goalkeepers’ trainer Sammy Okinda was shown a red card and subsequently sent to the stands following an heated argument with the fourth official Kevin Amol. Okinda heavily protested a foul awarded in favour of Leopards, insisting innocence on the Sharks player but Amol who appeared to ask the former goalkeeper to tone down and argue his case asked the centre referee to dish the red card. Leopards center back Randy Bakari also had a long and lonely walk down the tunnel after getting his second caution for the day deep into stoppage time.
