FKF Premier League clubs Tusker and FC Talanta have received sanctions from Football Kenya Federation’s First Instance Body (FIB) for overstepping some of the institution’s CAF Club Licensing Regulations.In a statement issued by FKF and signed by CEO Barry Otieno, FIB – an independent decision-making body set up by all CAF member associations, on Tuesday 6 February, ordered Tusker to pay USD 16, 100 (Ksh. 2,584,050) for not submitting the contract of its head coach as per an agreement with the licensing body, while Talanta was penalized a fine of USD 3,300 (Ksh. 529,650) for the non-fulfilment of the criterion that required presenting a Women’s team as stipulated in the issued National Club Licensing regulations.Report: All FKFPL clubs league licenses, FC Talanta sanctionedIn Tusker’s case, as per the ruling, the club set 23 August 2023 as the date in which they would submit the contracts of the members of the technical staff as required, as they were in the final stages of contract negotiations.However, even after FIB issued them a license to compete in the 2023-24 FKF Premier League season on the same due date, it is reported that Tusker only on 4 September 2023 made a move to partially comply with the regulations, submitting all contracts bar that of one of the head coach.##NAJAVA_MECA_7855560##Despite several reminders from the Club Licensing Manager to submit the Contracts, the statement read, the Club has failed to comply and/or give an explanation as to why the said contract has still not been submitted, thus the penalty.“Pursuant to Article 14 (a) and (b) of the CAF Club Licensing Regulations, the FIB has sanctioned the Club to pay a daily charge of USD 100 according to the FKF PL catalogue of sanctions (attached) for every day for late submission of the said Contract as from the 23rd August, 2023 when the Club committed to submit the same,” FKF’s statement read.As for FC Talanta, it is understood that the club was given a license but penalized USD 3,000 for their aforementioned infraction, and given a grace period of three (3) months to complete the formation of both the Youth Team and Women’s Team.FKF’s statement further reads that the club paid the fine in addition to USD 300 for failing to adhere to the stipulated timelines by a total of three days.“In the Build-up to the upcoming season, The First Instance Body has requested the Club licensing management to conduct spot checks to ascertain that the clubs adhere to the National Club Licensing regulations,” the statement added.Club Licensing sets stage for professional leagues in Kenya
