FKF’s technical director, Michael Amenga, believes Kenya will qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, which will be staged in Morocco in a yet-to-be-communicated month. The 2025 AFCON qualifiers are set to commence in March, with the draw expected in the coming weeks. This comes days after the conclusion of the 2023 edition in Ivory Coast, where the hosts secured their third title after beating Nigeria 2-1 in the final.##NAJAVA_MECA_7863133##Kenya missed out on the Abidjan showdown due to a FIFA suspension. Sanctions imposed on the country in 2022 for government interference resulted in Kenya being locked out of the qualifiers.Ahead of the 2025 qualifiers, Amenga believes Kenya has what it takes to grace next year’s showpiece in Morocco.“We are on a good trajectory. We are preparing well and playing friendly matches. He (Engin Firat) is also closely following this Afcon. We play Cote d’Ivoire soon, and I think we are planning well,” he told the Star from Abidjan.Amenga was part of the CAF technical team in Ivory Coast and was left impressed by what has been dubbed the best AFCON ever. He hopes the atmosphere will be the same when Kenya hosts the 2027 edition.“The local fans are amazing. We hope in 2027, it can be the same. Without them, there’s no football. So we depend on them to push, and players have to perform. There are no small teams or big teams anymore. I think it’s the hard work that has been put in by us Africans ourselves”.The former Kariobangi Sharks coach further notes growth in the technical areas, saying the coaching is up-to-date.”The improvement in coaching, refereeing, and infrastructure has contributed to significant growth. The managers are modernized, and the players are well-prepared. There’s really good improvement in Africa,” he added. Before next year’s AFCON, Kenya will take part in the 2024 CHAN that it is set to host in September.CS Ababu Namwamba promises ‘Kenyan-flavored’ 2024 Safari Rally
