Mwatate United raring to go after favorable SDT judgement

Mwatate United are preparing for life in the National Super League (NSL) if the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) follows the ruling of the Sports Dispute Tribunal to allow the club to take their slot from Dimba Patriots in the second tier.In September, FKF confirmed and effected the merger between then fourth-tier moneybags Dimba and NSL side Mwatate with the former acquiring the latter.##NAJAVA_MECA_7873851##However, the SDT on Tuesday in the ruling made by Judge John Ohaga nullified the Mwatate and Dimba merger on the basis that it was riddled with irregularities.18 Mwatate officials led by chairman Suleiman Mwabindo through sports lawyer Ken Ochieng had moved to the SDT seeking nullification of the takeover. The SDT ruled that Mwatate under the previous regime, had no power to sanction the sale of a community club adding that the whole process never followed the club’s constitution. The Ohaga-led tribunal further instructed FKF to reinstate Mwatate in league matches alongside giving the officials access and registering players on behalf of Dimba in the United portal.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Mwatate head of communications Gamaliel Mwarabu confirmed that the team was intact and was only waiting for a green light from the Federation to swing into action. He added that all the players that turned for them were eagerly waiting to once more dart on the green grass for the Wana Hewa though are all attached to other clubs in the region to keep fit.“The team is ready and we are only waiting for directives from FKF before we take the next action. But from my position, everyone is prepared for a great comeback,” offered Mwarabu.“We have everyone on board, even our head coach Evans Mafuta is still with us despite receiving various offers elsewhere,’ he added.DONE DEAL: Dimba Patriots acquires Mwatate UnitedMeanwhile, the Mwarabu has urged the football governing body in the country to allow them access to the FIFA Connect portal as part of the directive from the SDT suggesting that the previous regime in collaboration with Dimba Patriots had tempered with the system therefore they cannot release or register a player making it tough for them to strategize for the season.“Our systems were affected big time, we cannot sign or release a player. It is my prayer that the federation moves with speed to fix the portal and hopefully, they accord us some time to bring in the players that the previous regime had released as a way of punishing us,” he added. He was also quick to refute claims that the club would struggle in the league due to funding terming the claims ‘baseless’ and confirming the availability of Teita Sisal Limited as the sponsor of the team.“We have a sponsor, those saying we cannot sustain the team are lying, Teita never went away and are ready to walk the path with us again,” concluded the soft-spoken Mwarabu.Concurrently, Mozzart Sport has learned that Dimba will be moving to court to appeal the SDT decision upon reception of the judgment on Thursday. Our sources further confide that the NSL newbies are likely to file an appeal before Friday to avoid cancellation of their weekend match against Kibera Black Stars on Sunday.CAF’s TSG releases Africa Cup of Nation Cote d’Ivoire 2023 Best XI
