FKF suspends Dimba Patriots’ matches

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has moved to suspend all National Super League matches involving Dimba Patriots FC indefinitely. This move comes after the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) nullified the merger between Dimba and Mwatate United, marking the end of Mwatate United and the birth of Dimba, who joined the second tier from the fourth division.##NAJAVA_MECA_7881135##On Tuesday, SDT Chairman John Ohaga nullified the Mwatate and Dimba merger, citing irregularities and directed that they be reinstated to the league. The ruling was a reprieve to stakeholders from Wundanyi who filed the case at the tribunal, and a significant setback for Dimba, who spent millions to acquire the second-division slot.Dimba reportedly plans to challenge Ohaga’s ruling in the High Court. Patriots feel aggrieved by the ruling, and the matter is expected to lead to a lengthy court battle that could drag on for months.FKF’s Leagues and Competitions have now moved to suspend matches involving the team indefinitely. Dimba were scheduled to play the Kibera Black Stars on Sunday at the MPesa Foundation Grounds.”We wish to inform you that on February 12, 2024, the Court delivered a decision regarding the merger between Dimba Patriots FC and Mwatate United. The Court has ruled to cancel the merger, citing procedural irregularities in the acquisition process. As a result, all matches involving Dimba Patriots FC have been suspended until further notice,” read a circular from the Leagues and Competitions Committee to all National Super League clubs.Mwatate also face the challenge of registering players with the transfer window currently closed. In an earlier interview, the club’s communications director, Gamaliel Mwarabu called on the federation to open the portal outside the transfer window to allow them to sign players.“Our systems were affected significantly; we cannot sign or release a player. It is my hope that the federation moves swiftly to fix the portal, and hopefully, they grant us some time to bring in the players that the previous regime had released as a way of punishing us,” he said.Odhiambo bullish ahead of Homeboyz vs Leopards showdown
