Former Gor Mahia central defender Frank Odhiambo is on the verge of joining Swedish third-tier side AFC Eskilstuna on loan from top-tier outfit Djurgarden IF.This is the the third time Djurgarden are loaning out the Kenyan defender to the lower tiers for his development and to gather more experience.Odhiambo hasn’t settled at Djurgarden as he had wished when he made the infamous switch from Gor to the club in January 2022 on a five-year-long deal.##NAJAVA_MECA_7891901##The towering centre-back was expected to hit the ground running in the Swedish top tier but was forced to train with the U21 side to acclimatize and gather experience.A fracture on his finger in March 2022 presented yet another hurdle for the young defender who was reportedly nearing his competitive debut before the setback.Djurgarden loaned him to third-tier side IFK Haninge in August 2022, a deal that lasted until the end of the season in November of the same year.Odhiambo returned to his parent club at the end of the deal and was hugely expected to be incorporated into the first team.However, he was sent on loan to second-tier club Vasalund IF in March last year and returned to Djurgarden at the end of the seal in November.With the new season fast approaching, Odhiambo will have to shift gears and prepare for the start of life at Eskilstuna.According to Fotbolltransfers, Eskilstuna who were relegated to the third tier at the end of the past term have reached an agreement with Djurgarden to have the 21-year-old on loan.“We have many good players and Frank (Odhiambo) is here and played with us (against IF Karlstad) so it is clear that there is some interest in it. We have come a long way with Djurgården in that matter,” reported the publication.Kenyan internationals nearing loan departures from AIKAt Eskilstuna, Odhiambo will enjoy the company of his compatriot Henry Meja.Meja also joins the club on loan from top-tier side AIK.
