It’s official: Tuchel will leave Munich at the end of the season

After a defeat from Bochum, the writing was on the wall for Thomas Tuchel. In the next few days, there was just one dilemma – will he be sacked in the next few days, or will he be let go at the end of the season. After a few days of long talks, it was decided that the separation in May was for the best. Everybody kept their dignity – Bayern will not sack the coach in the middle of the season for the second time in a row (that‘s not the ‘Bayern way‘) and the Champions League winning coach won‘t be sacked in the middle of the season for the second time in a row (after Chelsea). But this decision also means trouble for Liverpool, because the Bavarians just made Xavi Alonso their number one target.Neuausrichtung zur neuen Saison: FC Bayern und Thomas Tuchel beenden Zusammenarbeit im Sommer.🔗 https://t.co/yDLnsnMtfR— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) February 21, 2024 The current Bundesliga champions just released a joint statement announcing Tuchel‘s departure.“In an open, good conversation we came to the decision to mutually end our collaboration in the summer. Our goal is to carry out a sporting realignment with a new coach for the 2024/25 season. Until then, every individual in the club is expressly challenged to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and the Bundesliga. I also explicitly hold the team responsible. Especially in the Champions League, we are convinced that after the 0-1 defeat in the first leg at Lazio Rome, we will advance to the quarter-finals in the second leg in our fully occupied Allianz Arena with our fans behind us” said Bayern‘s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.Bayern torn between interim and permanent successor to TuchelAs for his part, the German coach also vowed to finish the season strong.„We have agreed that we will end our collaboration after this season. Until then, I and my coaching team will of course continue to do everything we can to ensure maximum success” said Tuchel in a statement.Tuchel is all but gone: Bayern lose in Bochum!Bayern introduced Tuchel with much fanfare in March 2023, when Julian Nagelsmann was given the sack, even thou he was the first in Bundesliga, but was criticized because the team was not winning smootly. He aparentely also lost the dressing room. Less than the year later, the coach for which all Bayern‘s executives agreed leaves the club in a worse state. The Bavarians are not leaders of Bundesliga, they will not be champions, and the dressing room is united, but united against Tuchel. Now, since the decision has been made, all those names like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Jose Mourinho will not be mentioned anymore. Bayern is going high, they will pursuit the man who will deprive them of their title – Xabi Alonso. Off course, Hansi Flick remains as a target, but not the primary one.UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE1/8 finalsTuesdayCopenhagen – Man.City 1-3 (1-2)/Mattsson 34 – De Bruyne 10, Silva 45+1, Foden 90+3/RB Leipzig – Real Madrid 0-1 (0-0)/Diaz 49/WednesdayPSG – Sociedad 2-0 (0-0)/Mbappe 58, Barcola 71/Lazio – Bayern 1-0 (0-0)/Immobile 69 pen/Tuesday the 20thInter – Atletico Madrid 1-0 (0-0)/Arnautovic 79/PSV – Borussia Dortmund 1-1 (0-1)/De Jong 56 pen – Malen 24/Wednesday the 21st23:00: (4.10) Porto (3.50) Arsenal (1.90)23:00: (2.70) Napoli (3.35) Barcelona (2.60)***odds are subject to change***
