Jonathan McKinstry said he was “deeply disappointed” with his side’s shock exit from the Mozzart Bet Cup and paid lots of respect to their valiant opponents for “defending like heroes and throwing their bodies in front of the ball” on Sunday.Following a barren draw in regular time, Premier League leaders Gor Mahia suffered a rude exit from the cup competition after losing 5-4 on penalties to little known Denmak FC, a result that left club chairman Ambrose Rachier “concerned.”Gor Mahia Chairman Rachier concerned after Mozzart Bet Cup upsetBut in explaining the loss, McKinstry said post-game that his team had done enough preparation for the game, and that it was more of Denmak’s defense that they ended up on the losing side.“We are very disappointed because we have put so much preparation into this game, playing lots of friendlies to make sure that everyone is fit and ready for this game,” he said. “By and large in terms of how the game was played, we dominated the ball as you would like to expect and created some good chances.“The Denmak keeper was probably man of the match for them; so brave, came out and punched and threw himself in front of things. So we have to say a huge congratulations to them because they defended like heroes and threw themselves in front of the ball.“They were willing to go through the pain barrier in order to get to penalties and after that it is what it is.”Upset Alert: Gor Mahia bounced out of Mozzart Bet Cup in shock loss to Denmak FCOn the question of the team’s desire for the game, McKinstry pointed out that his second rotated side had taken part in near to five friendly matches with lower-tier sides since January saying: “The guys’ determination in the last few training sessions has been really good and I said, we had much of the ball but we just couldn’t get it across the line. Its football, that’s how it is sometimes. “We wanted to go deep in the cup but can’t do anything about that now.”On how the remainder of the season will shape out, the 38 year old said: “We’ve got to reset, focus on the league. We’re in a good position there and we have to make sure we bring that home.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7899462##
