AFC Leopards coach demands more from hattrick hero Gitego

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha is demanding more from his striker Arthur Gitego despite his hattrick over PAC University on Sunday, a treble that sent Ingwe into the Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16.Making just his second start for the club, the Rwandese striker scored his first three goals as Ingwe defeated PAC University and secured a place in the last 16. They are aiming to clinch their only realistic trophy this campaign, as they currently trail Gor Mahia by a whopping 16 points in the league standings.##NAJAVA_MECA_7898960##Ingwe will now face troubled Shabana FC in the last 16, and a win will move them a step closer to their first silverware in seven years. They last won the same trophy in 2017 after defeating Kariobangi Sharks FC 2-0 in the final played at the Kasarani Stadium.Despite his hattrick in the game, Gitego’s coach is still dissatisfied with his January signing and is demanding more from the Rwandese international. He says his desire is to see Gitego more involved in possession and defending, rather than being an isolated goal-scorer.“Still far from my expectations, it is good that he scored three goals, which is what we want from him, but he needs to be more involved in our game, to help us more in defense and possession,” Trucha said in an interview with Box to Box Podcast. The tactician added that the striker’s combination with other players on the pitch is still lacking, an area that he hopes will improve in the coming weeks.“He has had some good moments; he scored, which is good. We got the striker that we wanted, but the connection with other players and the combinations are still far from my expectations.”Gitego was among the four mid-season acquisitions made by Ingwe. He joined from Rwandan club Marines FC. The other new acquisitions are Ken Owino from Posta, Kelly Madada from Mathare Flames, and Chris Koloti from Green Commandos.Ingwe are set to face Nzoia Sugar FC on Sunday as the FKF Premier League action resumes.
