FKF reinstates Dimba Patriots into NSL fixtures

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has moved with speed to reinstate Dimba Patriots back into the National Super League (NSL) after internal remedies.FKF had two weeks ago suspended all league matches involving Dimba indefinitely after the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) nullified the merger between Dimba and Mwatate over irregularities in the takeover process.##NAJAVA_MECA_7918293##The merger has been experiencing twists since the completion of the process last year in September with two groups jostling over the rightful owner of the club and 18 officials led by Suleiman Mwabindo had gone to court to stop the process and have Dimba outcasted from the league action. However, under unclear circumstances, Dimba on Wednesday was given the green light to take to the field against promotion-chasing Mara Sugar on Sunday at the Wolves Den in Kajiado.Mozzart Sport has since established that the FKF League and Competition Committee upon receiving the Gichuru Kiplagat-led SDT panel decision on 14th February 2024 reached out to the management of Mwatate led by Beatrice Matunda, William Mkubwa, and Patricia Mwashighadi who reverted promising a quick solution to the fiasco.FKF suspends Dimba Patriots’ matchesThe trio (Patricia, William, and Beatrice) alongside Mwatate United Team Manager Omar Mbaraki held a meeting and on 17th February 2024 reached out to the FKF with new resolutions that included the appointment of Dick Arudo as the new club chairman giving the football governing body in the country powers to reintroduce Dimba in second tier matches.“Upon receiving information, we reached out to the bonafide Mwatate members via mail informing them that we will be suspending Dimba matches after the SDT ruling since we could not process name change in the middle of the season, “offered FKF Leagues and Competition Committee head Doreen Nabwire.“On 17th February, they reached to us that they had done an internal meeting and appointed Dick as the new chairman to replace the departed James Okoyo and that they had resolved to have Dimba see off the season, therefore, as the federation having received the minutes, we had to reinstate the team in league action,” she added.Nabwire at the same time denied receiving any communication from the Mwabindo-led team stating that the group has never communicated with her office since the ruling was made.As Dimba gears up training sessions in preparation for the Millers clash, the other group through Sports lawyer Ken Ochieng has maintained that legal action will be taken against the Federation and Dimba without further notice if the match goes on as planned.Mwatate United threatens legal action against FKF over controversial Dimba Patriots takeover
