Henry knows why Real sold United’s flops Varane and Casemiro

Real Madrid is slowly but surely building Galacticos 3.0. The previous editions were Galacticos 1.0 (beginning of year 2000) with stars like Zinédine Zidane, Ronaldo, Raúl González, Roberto Carlos, Luís Figo and David Beckham, while the second edition happened around 10 years later and included the likes of Kaka, Karim Benzema, Xabi Alonso, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos (among others). With the imminent arrival of Kylian Mbappe and the players already bought in recent years, ageing president Florentino Perez is looking to see out his third generation of super-footballers. But the other side of Real, which is not often talked about, is their handling of departures, and Thierry Henry just explained the brilliance of it.Another piece of the ‘New Galacticos’ puzzle: Davies reaches verbal agreement with Real MadridAn example was Manchester United’s duo of Casemiro and Raphael Varane. The Red Devils paid over 100 million pounds for the pair, and needless to say, they were not a hit at Old Trafford. Still, eyebrows were raised when Real decided to sell them, but they were right eventually.“The one thing they do ever so well is they know when to get rid of players. I am not talking about the players that are logical to get rid of. I am talking about it was time for Cristiano Ronaldo. It was time for Casemiro. It was time for Mesut Ozil. It was time for Varane, which was more, I think, of a knee issue, if I understand well. But if you think about those three – Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro – they sold the youngest one. Why would you sell the youngest one? Well, they noticed that those two can help Valverde, Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and they do that ever-so-well and you have to give them credit because when you get rid of the players that I mentioned before, they were outstanding players at that time for your team” said Henry to CBS Sports.Everton lead Manchester United already! The former Arsenal captain also pointed out that keeping some of the ‘old guard’ in the club will speed up the acclimatization process of the young players in the club.“There’s one thing you have to give them a lot of credit for, the ability they have to make sure they build a team with keeping some of the old guard with them to make sure that they can explain to the guys coming, the young guys coming. If you look at it, if Kylian Mbappe goes there, they’re going to have a team that can be dominating Europe and dominating their league for maybe six to seven years because they’ll all be young” he said on CBS Sports.LA LIGA – MATCHDAY 28FridayBarcelona – Mallorca 1-0 (0-0)/Yamal 73/Saturday16:00 (2.05) Valencia (3.25) Getafe (4.30)18:15 (5.00) Cadiz (3.50) Atl.Madrid (1.75)20:30 (4.60) Granada (3.50) Sociedad (1.90)23:00 (1.65) Girona (3.90) Osasuna (6.00)Sunday16:00 (2.20) Alaves (3.20) Rayo Vallecano (3.80)18:15 (4.00) Las Palmas (3.50) Ath.Bilbao (2.05)20:30 (1.30) Real Madrid (5.80) Celta (9.00)23:00 (2.20) Betis (3.50) Villarreal (3.45)Monday23:00 (3.00) Almeria (3.40) Sevilla (2.45)***odds are subject to change***
