Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Oliver Majaka says earning a call-up to the national U20 team, Rising Stars, motivates him to chase the career goals he set before joining the top flight.Majaka formed part of the Rising Stars provisional squad for the recently concluded Four Nations tournament in Malawi, where Kenya settled for silver after losing 3-1 to the host.Despite not making the travelling team, Majaka says the lessons learned in the national team camp and the inspiration that came with the call-up will push him to work harder and achieve his dreams.FIFA orders FKF to continue with AGM and Election plans”The call-up opened my eyes and made me realise the rewards that come with hard work. I believe that it was the first of many and laid a foundation for me to achieve my dreams, which include winning titles at Homeboyz, playing for the senior national team, and turning professional,” said Majaka. The central midfielder joined Homeboyz in the mid-season transfer window from St. Peter’s High School, Mumias, on a two-year contract. He says being summoned to the U20 team when he was barely two months old in the top flight was an indication that he was on the right track.”Much as I didn’t make the cut, the recognition pumped up my desire to succeed. Again, it shows that there is something positive I am doing, and it can only get better with hard work and commitment,” he said.##NAJAVA_MECA_7988505##With Homeboyz set to host Tusker this weekend in a Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16 match, the 18-year-old midfielder challenged his teammates to put their best foot forward and win the encounter. The game will be a repeat of last edition’s final, where Homeboyz beat the Brewers 1-0 to clinch their first ever major title.”We are determined to retain the cup and feature in continental matches again.
