Stephen Waruru appointed head coach of third-tier side

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One side Kabati Youth have appointed former Kenya International Stephen Waruru as their new head coach, after parting ways with Hilum Wanjohi, Mozzart Sport can confirm. The tactician who has been out of a coaching job since leaving Division Two side Kiandutu FC has been tasked with turning the fortunes of the league newbies around however, his contract length remains unknown.##NAJAVA_MECA_7988504##Kabati needed a new gaffer following the exit of Wanjohi who threw in the towel due to work commitments since he doubles up as a police officer.In an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, the club’s Chief Executive officer (CEO) Benson Mwangi revealed that all the papers between the club and former Ulinzi Stars man had been finalized and is set to be on the touchline when Kabati takes on Kibra United on Sunday.The club boss further added that the tactician’s vast experience both locally and internationally, is what inspired the management to go for his signature as they sought for a turnaround following a slow start to the second leg.Mwangi added that Waruru’s passion with Kabati also played a part in his landing the job. Waruru will be assisted by Joel Kafura and Dedan Kimathi.“We parted with our former head coach due to work commitments, he is a police officer, and doubling up at Kabati might have proved tough for him,” stated the CEO.“Waruru is someone with vast knowledge in football having played for top teams in the country he commands that respect in the dressing room and we believe the experience will help in taking Kabati to the next level,”“At Kabati he feels at home and from what he does it is easy to notice the zeal in him, he loves the team and the boys in equal measure. He started at Thika United, and a year later crossed over to Ulinzi Stars at the end of 2010, winning the golden boot the following season.
