FKFPL: Bandari to host home matches at Ukunda Showgrounds and Mombasa Sports Club

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) Bandari FC are set to host their home matches at the revamped Ukunda Showgrounds in Kwale and Mombasa Sports Club following the closure of Mbaraki Sports Club.Mbaraki was closed a month ago to undergo renovations on the main field and the tartan track for athletes in line with the Kenya Ports Authority’s commitment to providing standard sporting facilities.##NAJAVA_MECA_8013733##Speaking a head of the Dockers league clash against Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, head coach John Baraza revealed that the club had got a green light from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to host matches at the aforementioned venues.According to the former Kenyan international, Mombasa will be used for low risk matches with Ukunda, the home to National Super League outfit SS Assad, playing host to high risk games, which as per club vice chairman Twaha Mbarak in a previous interview indicated the team had took all the games under the category.Stars Abroad: Michael Olunga stars in Al Duhail win over league leaders Al SaddHowever, the gaffer noted that the two fields are undergoing renovations to meet the standards required by FKF to host a top-flight game and will be ready before they home match in April when they entertain Bidco United.“We got a green light to host our remaining home matches at either Ukunda or Mombasa Sports Clubs following inspection by FKF but we will have to do some works on them to meet the required standards,” he offered.Baraza said change of venue will not affect their current momentum which has seen them win four matches in five and keeps the team in contention for the league title siting third seven points adrift of leaders Gor Mahia.“Our home ground is very important but again determination and focus I believe are the key so we will continue to get points even when not in Mbaraki.”Mbaraki is expected to be ready just in time for the 2024/2025 season with on going work at the venue set to close in September.
