Nairobi City Stars ace blasts referee after loss to Muhoroni Youth

Nairobi City Stars goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe has criticized the level of officiating witnessed on Saturday during their game against Muhoroni Youth FC in Muhoroni, stating that his team was denied three goals. The home team scored in each half to secure a 2-0 win, further solidifying their position towards safety. However, Mukolwe expressed discontent with the officiating throughout the match.##NAJAVA_MECA_8010924##The centre referee for the game was Emmanuel Ochieng, assisted by Joyce Njeri and David Adero as the first and second assistant referees respectively, with Paul Omeno serving as the reserve referee. Leonard Onyiego acted as the Match Commissioner.Mukolwe vented his frustrations on social media, lamenting the discrepancy between the quality of refereeing and the performance of his team. He highlighted the disappointment of losing despite what he deemed as legitimate goals.”Yesterday, my team Nairobi City Stars scored three beautiful goals but ended up losing the game 2-0. Unfortunately, our media team was barred from recording the game. I’m very disappointed with the refereeing quality, from the first decision to the last,” read his post in part.Additionally, he criticized the treatment his team received from the host team, citing issues such as a noisy sound system near their technical area, hostility from fans, and media restrictions.“We aspire to compete at the highest levels, yet our league lacks consistency. Biased refereeing, a sound system placed right behind the away team’s bench, hostile fans (understandable), poor playing surface, and no media coverage – it was a pathetic and disgusting experience,” he added.Expressing his ambition for higher standards in the league, Mukolwe urged the football federation to address issues of biased officiating and ensure fair competition. He emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency and preventing external factors from adversely affecting teams during matches.“We must set standards to improve football quality. Players rely on football for their livelihoods, and their welfare needs serious attention. Many players invest heavily to prepare for games, only to be derailed by external factors.I won’t be surprised if they invalidate all this due to lack of evidence,” he added.Looking ahead, Muhoroni Stadium is scheduled to host the game between the hosts and Shabana FC next weekend.
