Pep to play Rodri despite his tiredness

It seems like Manchester City is a dull club. Dull in terms of nothing exciting happening other than football. They are winning, they are always a trophy contenders, they don’t have primadona’s in the dressing room causing headlines in the newspapers, they don’t have a dilemma who is gonna be their next coach…pretty much they are oppostite to their rivals Manchester United. So, when their most valuable squad player Rodri told the reporters after a 3-3 draw against Real that he needs a rest, it was the headlines in Manchester. “I do need a rest. It is something we are planning. Let’s see how we speak, how we live the situation. Rest is important“ he said just a few days ago. And with the rematch with Real coming up in only four days, it was logical that today’s game with a relegation candidate Luton was gonna be a perfect opportunity for the Spaniard to be rested. But after Pep Guardiola’s press conference, it seems that we do have some sort of ’controversy’ or ’drama’ among the Citizens too.Rodri admits: ‘I need a rest’Despite the need for rest (he so far made 47 appearances for club and country), it seems Rodri will change his mind today and play, according to Guardiola.“We know what we are playing for. They know how tough it has been this season for many reasons, maybe one of the toughest seasons we have faced for sure. I’m pretty sure Rodri will be ready. I know him because after the Madrid game he was tired because it was tough. He came from Crystal Palace and it was really tough as well, but I know him. He will arrive and say: “I’m fine, I’m ready”. It’s not just Rodri. I’d love to rest central defenders but we don’t have them. We are in big, big trouble. So they cannot rest” said the Spaniard. We’re in big, big trouble with fatigue and injury problems, claims Pep GuardiolaSo, what will the famous coach do easy the ‘pain’ of his tired players? Well, he turned training to a ‘fine tuning’ sessions in order to keep them fresh.“Switch off, I don’t bother them much. Don’t train, don’t train, massage, water, hot water, cold water. Good food and good rest. Some videos and rest, rest, and rest. Otherwise more people will get injured. Training is just concepts. The way we have to defend, the way we have to attack, five or 10 minutes. A lot of smiles. Good conversations in the massage room” explained Pep.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 33Saturday 14:30: (2.80) Newcastle (3.60) Tottenham (2.40)17:00: (1.45) Brentford (4.80) Sheffield Utd (8.00)17:00: (2.20) Nott.Forest (3.45) Wolverhampton (3.25)17:00: (1.10) Man.City (11.0) Luton (18.0)17:00: (3.40) Burnley (3.50) Brighton (2.10)19:30: (2.60) Bournemouth (3.40) Man.Utd.
