Cole Palmer scores four goals in a 6-0 demolition of Everton

What a mistake did Pep Guardiola made! The Spanish tactician haven’t made much of them during his career, but this might be one of the biggest ones. In June 2023, after keeping Cole Palmer out of the first team for far too long, Guardiola was unable to persuade the City’s academy product that he will get his opportunity after Mahrez’s departure for Saudi Arabia. Instead of unstoppable duo of Foden and Palmer, he now has only Doku and Bernardo Silva on the right wing and Palmer is a 20-goals beast in Chelsea. In tonight’s 6-0 demolition of Everton at the Stamford Bridge Palmer scored four goals and he is currently the only playing the league to score so many goals in a single game. After tonight, he is also tied with Erling Haaland with 20 goals in the league, even thou he is not a striker. He also became the first player the first ever Chelsea player to score in seven successive Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge.Cole Palmer is the first Chelsea player to score 20+ goals across all competitions since Eden Hazard in 2018/19.And the first to do it in his debut season for the club since Diego Cost. 🧊 pic.twitter.com/Ore0ENCWFP— Squawka (@Squawka) April 15, 2024 After a couple of disappointing results in recent games (draws with Burnley and Sheffield United) this game was like a medicine for the home fans. It’s not easy to score so many goals against Everton, who is currently third in the league with nine clean sheets, but the Blues made it look so easily and they also had ‘help’ from Everton players. Tarkowski conceded a penalty and England’s number 1 keeper made a big blunder and conceded a goal from 30 meters in a night when we also saw some Chelsea players act like little kids. Jackson and Madueke were pushing each other in order to take a penalty before Cole took the ball away from them and scored his fourth goal. And what about Everton? Their nightmare season with poor displays and point’s deductions is continuing. Having seen November’s 10-point penalty for breaching spending rules reduced to six on appeal, the Toffees were penalized a further two points this week, dropping them back to within two points of the Premier League relegation zone. Their biggest striking threat Calvert-Lewin’s was again injured, and this game was over for them after conceding three goals in just half an hour.Just as Everton was getting into the mood of the game, Cole Palmer began his scoring night by passion Branthwaite, and then playing it for Jackson who got the ball back to Palmer and the former City player scored in the 13th minute. Palmer missed another great chance in the next two minutes, but was successful a bit later and increased the lead by 2-0. Mudryk was fed down the left of the area, and he found Jackson, whose shot was saved by Pickford, but the loose ball came to Palmer and it was his second one. But it was the third one which was a really beauty and in fact was an embarrassment for Jordan Pickford. England’s number one made a serious blunder and allowed Palmer to score a spectacular lob from over 30 meters. It was Pickford’s mistake after he went far away from his penalty area to clear the ball, only to pass it badly and into Cole’s feet. But Chelsea was not done scoring in the first half and Senegal’s Nicolas Jackson was the one who used his skills and shot into the bottom right corner for 4-0.The second half was just finishing the job for the Blues, but it turned a bit ugly when they got a penalty in the 64th minute. There is squabbling between Jackson and Madueke over who is going to take it. Silva then came over to have a word. Then captain Gallagher tried to split them up. And then Palmer came in and took the ball and both players were not happy. The final goal was scored by Gilchrist in the 90th minute.Someone needs a serious word with Madueke and Jackson…Embarrassing behaviour! 🫣 pic.twitter.com/YcePVpH4Eq— EPL Bible (@EPLBible) April 15, 2024 ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 33Saturday Newcastle – Tottenham 4-0 (2-0)/Isak 30, 50, Gordon 32, Schar 87/Brentford – Sheffield Utd 2-0 (0-0)/Arblaster 64 og, Onyeka 90+3/Nott.Forest – Wolverhampton 2-2 (1-1)/Gibbs-White 45+2, Danilo 57 – Cunha 40, 62/Man.City – Luton 5-1 (1-0)/Hashioka 2 og, Kovacic 64, Haaland 76 pen, Doku 87, Gvardiol 90+3 – Barkley 81/Burnley – Brighton 1-1 (0-0)/Broenhill 75 – Muric 79 og/Bournemouth – Man.Utd. 2-2 (2-1)/Solanke 16, Kluivert 36 – Fernandes 31, 65 pen/Sunday West Ham – Fulham 0-2 (0-1)/Pereira 9, 72/Liverpool – Crystal Palace 0-1 (0-1)/Eze 14/Arsenal – Aston Villa 0-2 (0-0)/Bailey 84, Watkins 87/Monday Chelsea – Everton 6-0 (4-0)/Palmer 13, 18, 29, 64, Jackson 44, Gilchrist 90/
