FKF succumbs to pressure, imposes new measures on ‘unsportsmanlike’ Muhoroni Youth

The Football Federation of Kenya in a Thursday evening decision has imposed new measures on FKF Premier league club Muhoroni Youth, following receipt of reports concerning treatment of visiting teams, officials, and media personnel at Muhoroni Stadium.As per an official notice to Muhoroni Youth FC CEO Julius Owino, FKF CEO Barry Otieno notes the aforementioned reports, which have raised concerns regarding harassment, facility conditions and safety “cannot be overlooked,” thereby imposing new conditions for the continued use of the stadium as a host venue for any remaining FKF Premier League matches.##NAJAVA_MECA_8043046##Among the grievances reported to FKF include among others: denial of access to the pitch for visiting teams immediately after pre-match meeting, maltreatment of visiting team officials and players, intentional delay of match kick-offs, and harassment of media teams and journalists by Muhoroni Youth FC security personnel.The development comes quick in the heels of allegations by Nairobi City Stars goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe, who speaking after a 2-0 loss in the hands of Muhoroni, accused the latter of barring his side’s media team from recording the game.Nairobi City Stars ace blasts referee after loss to Muhoroni YouthHe also complained of what he felt to be biased refereeing in favor of the home side.Muhoroni Youth were in October 2023 also sanctioned for violent incidents that resulted in a handful of supporters charging towards KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala with his side leading 1-0 in the 90th minute.FKF slaps Muhoroni with sanctions over violence witnessed during the abadoned KCB matchGiven the gravity of the situation, FKF has therefore released a raft of conditions which if ignored, will result in the matter being referred to the relevant FKF Committees for further determination.The measures include:1. Media Safety and Access: Muhoroni Youth FC must ensure free entry and guarantee the safety of all media personnel, whether from the visiting team, FKF, or any media houses, visiting teams’ players, officials and match officials.2. Match Recording: Away teams shall be permitted to record all matches at Muhoroni Stadium for analysis purposes. Muhoroni Youth FC must guarantee their safety and security.3. Kick-off Timeliness: No delays in match kick-offs shall be tolerated.4. Pitch Access: Access to the pitch must be granted to visiting teams, media, and match officials immediately after pre-math meeting without restriction.5. Facility Renovation: Muhoroni Youth FC is required to renovate all essential amenities, including restrooms and dressing rooms, to a satisfactory standard and provide FKF with proof of these improvements before hosting the next match.6. Public Address System Placement: The Public Address system must be positioned away from both teams’ technical areas to avoid disruption.7. Security Management: The inner perimeter gate accessing the pitch must be manned by uniformed police officers, not stewards.8. Match Commissioner Instructions: Match commissioners are instructed not to allow the kick-off of any match at Muhoroni Stadium if any of the above conditions have not been met.Full decision
