Five more wins until the end and a potential historical event. Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be the first team (and a coach) to win the Premier League four times in a row and after a 4-0 win in Brighton tonight, it all looks more and more real. Manchester City increased their unbeaten run in the Premier League tonight to 18 games and used the opportunity given to them – injury-plagued Brighton. The Seagulls were without Billy Gilmour, Tariq Lamptey, James Milner, Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson and Pervis Estupinan (out for the season) – too much for better teams, yet alone Brighton. On the other side was City looking for another title, and without Ering Haaland (who is out of form anyway), but with Foden, De Bruyne and Alvarez upfront, and they all scored. Even better for the Citizens, everything was over after only half an hour. It all started with an unusual goal – Kevin De Bruyne scored after only 17 minutes, but it was his first Premier League goal ever – with his head. Walker came down from the right, and his cross met De Bruyne’s head for the lead. Even the Belgian international was laughing after his maiden header. Then it was the time for Brighton’s greatest executioner – Phil Foden. The England international has netted six in his last seven against the Seagulls and added a brace tonight, raising his total Premier League tally to 51. The home crowd probably wished the game could end at that point, but unfortunately, it was only the 33rd minute. With over 66% of possession, the Citizens just took the game away from Brighton and confirmed the win in the 62nd minute. Brighton was deprived of a penalty at the beginning of the second half, when the score was still 3-0. Rodri tangled with Gross as the Brighton man tried to take the ball goalwards from the left flank. VAR checked the situation and decided it was not worth the white spot, but this will surely be a point of a debate by Brighton. In the 70th minute, VAR again denied a potential penalty for the hosts, when Joao Pedro was contacted by Gvardiol in the penalty area. The Brazilian had the best chance to at least score one, but his shot in the 85th minute went just near the post.
