FKF goes hard on Migori Youth, imposes tough measures to curb visiting teams’ harassment

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued a stern warning to National Super League (NSL) side Migori Youth following numerous reports regarding the treatment of visiting teams, officials, and media personnel at Migori Stadium during league matches.FKF noted that the issues raised significant concerns regarding harassment and safety, with the latest incidents involving Luanda Villa on Sunday, April 14, 2024, and Mara Sugar on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.##NAJAVA_MECA_8056179##In a letter addressed to the Migori Chairman and signed by FKF CEO Barry Otieno, the football governing body outlined some of the grievances voiced by the visiting clubs. These grievances included, but were not limited to, being denied access to the pitch as soon as they arrived, mistreating visiting team officials and players, harassing and violently attacking club media personnel with the help of Migori Youth FC security personnel led by the team’s Head of Stewards, and continuously insulting and provocationing the visiting team’s bench by fans who were positioned behind the visiting club’s technical area and inside the perimeter walls.FKF PL Golden Boot Race: Omala, Okello joint top as Kapaito keeps the chaseProposed Measures to curb the incidents Given the gravity of the concerns, the FKF Leagues and Competition Committee, through its chairman, established several conditions for the continued use of Migori Stadium for the remaining NSL games, which include:1. Media Safety and Access: Migori Youth FC must ensure free entry and guarantee the safety of all media personnel, whether from the visiting team, FKF, or any media houses, as well as visiting teams’ players, officials, and match officials.2. Match Recording: Away teams shall be permitted to record all matches at Migori Stadium for analysis purposes. Migori Youth FC must guarantee their safety and security.3. Pitch Access: Access to the pitch must be granted to visiting teams, media, and match officials immediately after the pre-match meeting without restriction.4. Security Management: The inner perimeter gate accessing the pitch must be manned by uniformed police officers, not stewards.5.
