There are clubs who are buying very young players and then develop them in their team or in the academy (Barcelona, Dortmund, Leipzig) and there are clubs who just have enough money and power to buy a finish product (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich). In Germany, the Bavarians literally bought any player and coach who was standing out among the rest. There are only a few footballers and coaches who avoided their grasp (like Jurgen Klopp), but that was more an accident that a general rule. And one the rare ones is Xabi Alonso. While some coaches were maybe available at times but Bayern had a manager at that point, this was an ideal situation in which the ‘hottest’ coach in Europe was in their league and they just decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel. Xabi Alonso was their former player and had a clause in Leverkusen’s contract which would allow him to join the Bavarian’s, but in the end, he had integrity and said ‘no’ to them.
