Bayern Munich explain why Xabi Alonso turned them down

There are clubs who are buying very young players and then develop them in their team or in the academy (Barcelona, Dortmund, Leipzig) and there are clubs who just have enough money and power to buy a finish product (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich). In Germany, the Bavarians literally bought any player and coach who was standing out among the rest. There are only a few footballers and coaches who avoided their grasp (like Jurgen Klopp), but that was more an accident that a general rule. And one the rare ones is Xabi Alonso. While some coaches were maybe available at times but Bayern had a manager at that point, this was an ideal situation in which the ‘hottest’ coach in Europe was in their league and they just decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel. Xabi Alonso was their former player and had a clause in Leverkusen’s contract which would allow him to join the Bavarian’s, but in the end, he had integrity and said ‘no’ to them. And one woman foresaw it.We want Thomas Tuchel and not Rangnick!Bayern Munich’s most important person, Uli Hoeness, revealed that it was actually his wife which predicted the outcome of the negotiations between the club and the Spaniard.”He cancelled because he has character; he would not have gone to any other club. My wife said straight away: If he has character, he won’t come, and if he doesn’t have character and says yes, then he’s not the right trainer for you. And as always, she was right. Alonso told us: ‘We have done our masterpiece, many players have come because of me, I can’t leave the club now” revealed Bayern’s honorary president at a conference organized by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.”Imagine you’re training and your coach is better than you”This strong ‘no’ didn’t demoralize Hoeness, on the contrary. Bayern’s supremo doesn’t rule out Alonso’s future involvement in the club because of his attitude: “This qualified him to become a coach at FC Bayern later” he said. But the most interesting (and funny thing) is that Munich giant is about to miss out on not only on the coach, but another player too. And all in the same season. Germany’s most exciting young player Florian Wirtz also stays in Leverkusen, at least for another year.“Florian Wirtz is also still a young player. We can spend 100 million euros on a Harry Kane once, maybe again on a German player, but not four or five times” said Hoeness. With this statement, it’s now obvious that the young midfielder will stay at the club for at least another season. And then Bayern will come up with 100 million euros.BUNDESLIGA – MATCHDAY 31FridayBochum – Hoffenheim 3-2 (2-0)/Stoger 34, 64, Passlack 45 – Kramaric 73, 84/Saturday16:30: (1.68) RB Leipzig (4.00) Dortmund (4.90)16:30: (2.30) Freiburg (3.40) Wolfsburg (3.10)16:30: (1.85) Augsburg (3.60) Werder (4.30)16:30: (1.43) Bayern (4.60) Eintr.Frankfurt (7.25)16:30: (2.30) M’ gladbach (3.45) Union Berlin (3.30)Sunday18:30: (1.58) Mainz (4.00) Koln (5.90)20:30: (3.60) Darmstadt (3.60) Heidenheim (2.15)***odds are subject to change***
