Silva to end his career in Fluminense

It’s a great time to be a Fluminense fan lately. Primarily because the Rio de Janeiro club is the current champion of South America, but also because after Marcelo’s return at the beginning of last year, the management decided to fulfil another dream for the fans – Thiago Silva will once again wear the Fluminense jersey starting from July. The experienced Brazilian announced back in January, when contact was established, that he would leave Chelsea at the end of the season because he wanted to fulfil his promise and complete his contract in London. Today, both clubs issued statements confirming that an agreement had been reached, and the 39-year-old defender is no longer a Chelsea player, returning to Fluminense.Home again, @tsilva3! #TheMonsterIsBack #OMonstroVoltou pic.twitter.com/tGD5b5RwYe— Fluminense F.C. (@FluminenseFC) May 7, 2024 Thiago Silva started his career in Fluminense’s youth academy but left at the age of 16. He returned in 2006, initially on loan from Dynamo Moscow, and then for two more seasons during which he helped the team win the Brazilian Cup. He gained worldwide fame wearing the AC Milan jersey and also played for Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea from 2020 onwards. Returning to Brazil as one of the best defenders of his time, he brings with him a UEFA Champions League title in 2021, seven Ligue 1 titles, and one Serie A title. After five rounds of the Brazilian Serie A for the 2024 season, Fluminense is currently in 16th place with five points. Silva will be able to join the team from the 18th round. Thiago Silva’s arrival at Fluminense has been heralded as the “return of the Beast,” so despite his age, the club has high expectations for the longtime Brazilian international and former captain.##NAJAVA_MECA_8088411##
