Omondi rallying ‘struggling’ Naivas FC on in quest for FKFPL slot

Naivas FC assistant coach Boniface Omondi has termed the team’s remaining matches as must wins even as he’s confident his troops will find their footing once again and get back to winning ways.Naivas’ woes continued on Friday when they lost 3-1 to fellow promotion hunters Mathare United at Dandora stadium.The loss meant that Naivas have now gone six matches without winning, losing three and drawing a similar number.”We will have to win our remaining matches in order to gain promotion. We still have more matches to go and so we are not out of the race still. Our opponents were playing behind the ball which was working for them. In the second half, we opted out of playing from the back and in turn went for direct play which gave us at least a goal. We also created more chances than Mathare but we didn’t have the luck in conversion,” he explained.Naivas who seemed all good and destined for the automatic promotion slots and indeed the title have since lost footing and find themselves at the third position with 59 points, six below league leaders Mara Sugar who have played a game less.They also have three points more than Nairobi United who have two games in hand with the first coming Saturday 11 May against Mombasa stars.
