It was a nervy night for the Leeds fans. They were hoping that their players could eliminate Norwich in the second leg of the Championship’s playoff and earn a trip to the final at Wembley. The Leeds executives were also trembling at the prospect of being eliminated, as it would mean a fire sale of players in order to cover for losses. And they were all in fear due to their unfavourable playoff record – Leeds have lost many playoff games throughout the years (the last two play-off participations ended in defeat, plus five other various play-off defeats). But just as the game started, goals came pouring in, and by the end, the Whites were looking for more. It ended with ‘only’ four goals in the visitors’ net, and it could have been more: Leeds – Norwich 4-0.🏴 Goal: Ilia Gruev | Leeds United 1-0 Norwich Citypic.twitter.com/vqTHzuFQvQ— PushGoals (@PushGoals) May 16, 2024 PIROT!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GOAL Leeds 2-0 Norwich pic.twitter.com/Xia2Ngln00— Arron (@arrongo1068) May 16, 2024 The Whites knew they had a chance when they managed a goalless draw in the first game back in Norwich, but their coach David Wagner, Jurgen Klopp’s best man obviously came unprepared and couldn’t believe what was happening. It was 2-0 after only 20 minutes and whatever he did during the match didn’t work. After all, since they were 3-0 down after the first half, they should tried to attack in the second, but they ended with zero shots on goal!🚨🏴 GOAL | Leeds 3-0 Norwich | Georginio Rutter. #LEEDS returning to the premier league.GEORGINIO RUTTER MAKES IT THREE !!!!!!!#LEENOR #Leedsunited #Norwich #EFLplayoffs #pl pic.twitter.com/AeBP9cg6Be— CentreGoalssss (@centregoalss) May 16, 2024 GOAL: Summerville scores to make it FOUR!!Leeds 4-0 Norwich pic.twitter.com/qWXxRknU7T— Laiba Fareed (@Alilaiba10) May 16, 2024 What Leeds wanted was a quick goal to ease the pressure and get on the right foot, and the terribly formed Norwich wall allowed them just that after only seven minutes. Ilia Gruev tried his luck with a free-kick and seeing Norwich defenders moving away instead of staying in the wall, he tried to surprise their goalkeeper with a shot on his side and he did it – 1-0. The second goal came quite quickly, as Piroe used a great cross by Willy Gnonto and gave the Whites a 2-0 lead after only 20 minutes. The Canaries were in a knockdown, and Rutter delivered another uppercut in the 40th minute. Joel Piroe and talented Crysencio Summerville combined before feeding Georginio Rutter, who finished for 3-0. Norwich had only one chance but it was a big one, just after the home team scored the second goal. Josh Sargent’s shot was going into the net, but Leeds stopper Illan Meslier made a huge save. Norwich away fans may have expected that their team would at least try to do something in the second half, but nothing similar happened. Leeds continued to create chances and attacked, but Norwich’s keeper saved all he could. But in the 68th minute, the super-talented Summerville scored the team’s fourth goal of the night for the trip to Wembley.##NAJAVA_MECA_8103729##
