Scottie Scheffler holes out for eagle on first iron shot of PGA Championship 2024 because of course he did

Scottie Scheffler, with his first iron shot as a dad, holed out for eagle on the first hole Thursday of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Scheffler, who has won four of his last five events including the Masters in April, hasn’t played since winning the RBC Heritage as he and wife Meredith welcomed their first child into the world.

Well, it didn’t take him very long to get warmed up.

From 169 yards in the fairway on No. 1, Scheffler’s 9-iron took one bounce less than a foot from the hole and dropped in for an opening two.

What a start for the world No. 1.

And, as you’d expect, the shot sent social media into a frenzy.
