Kenya Police goalkeepers’ coach Abdul Iddi Salim has defended goalkeeper Patrick Matasi after yet another error led to his team’s loss to Tusker on Saturday at the Police Sacco Grounds. This was the second time in under a week that Matasi’s mistake had cost his team. On Wednesday at the Dandora Stadium, he mishandled what appeared to be a cross from Victor Omune, which ended up in the back of the net. This goal helped Ingwe end the law enforcers’ unbeaten run across all competitions this year.##NAJAVA_MECA_8109542##On Saturday, Matasi misjudged a delivery into the area, missing the ball and allowing Charles Momanyi to score the winning goal for Tusker, completing a double over Salim Babu’s men.Iddi, responsible for training Matasi, defended him by saying that mistakes are part of football.“It was something to do with concentration, and mistakes do happen in football. What is most important is how we recover and become better in our next encounter against AFC Leopards in the Mozzart Bet Cup,” he said. The former Harambee Stars keepers’ trainer further acknowledged that the brewers were the better side in the game.“The game was not good for us, and we have to congratulate Tusker for the good game they had. For us, we have to rethink and do much better in our next game,” he added.Next for Police is a Mozzart Bet Cup semifinal match against AFC Leopards next Sunday at the Dandora Stadium. Salim noted that the upcoming international break would be beneficial for his team, which is fatigued after a series of back-to-back games.“The break will be a good thing because we have had too many games too close together. We will have rest and try to make a few corrections because, after so many games, psychologically, mentally, and physically, the players are tired. The break will be good for the team.”
