Milan’s bench was not empty for long. Just a couple of days after it was made official that Stefano Pioli would leave the Rossoneri, the name of the new head coach was announced. As it had previously been expected and speculated, Paulo Fonseca would be the one. 4-3-3 pic.twitter.com/myVZjdChS8— Zlatan Ibrahimović (@Ibra_official) May 26, 2024 Zlatan Ibrahimović, now the Senior Advisor at the club from San Siro, was the first to announce a slight clue on X, posting the photo of himself sitting on Milan’s bench with a short description ‘4-3-3′, Fonseca’s favourite formation and his mark of recognition during his spell with the French side Lille. This morning, an even more reliable source, Fabrizio Romano, came forward, revealing the details of the contract. A two-year deal shall be signed, with a one-year extension option, and the Portuguese will earn 2.5 million euros per season – which would make it more than 360 million KSh.🚨🔴⚫️ Paulo Fonseca’s salary as new AC Milan manager will be €2.5m net per season until June 2026, two year deal. There’s an option to extend the contract for further season; only in that case his salary would increase. The agreement is set to be sealed soon, as expected. pic.twitter.com/MijxqvGjn0— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 27, 2024 Working in Serie A will be nothing new to Fonseca since he led Roma from 2019 to 2021 and this experience must have influenced the management of Milan to have faith in the 51-year-old manager. In his first season as the Giallorossi coach, the perspective expert finished fifth in the Serie A and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. During his coaching career, apart from Roma, Fonseca led numerous Portuguese lower-league teams, as well as Paços Ferreira, Porto, Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Lille. He joined the French club in 2022, and throughout two years at Les Dogues’ bench, he managed to distinguish himself with attacking football and possession style of play, something that would be rather interesting to see if put into effect at Milan.##NAJAVA_MECA_8128656##
