One candidate is out, there are three more remaining for the Chelsea post. Once the season was over and Mauricio Pochettino managed to deliver the European football to the Stamford Bridge, he was sacked by the owners. Chelsea brass decided to turn to younger, energetic coaches, and their short-list consisted of Enzo Maresca, Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi. As per new reports, one is out, and that is perspective McKenna. The current Ipswich manager will not shed any tears about this, though, since he is also considered to be high on the list of Brighton and Howe Albion, and also Manchester United, where he served for years as the assistant manager. Apparently, the Blues were kind enough to call Ipswich and inform them that their coach didn’t make it to the final. The Tractor boys did not lose any more time, and according to The Athletic, Kieran McKenna will not be available to other clubs, as he is about to sign a new long-term contract with the club, which he led to back-to-back promotions. Chelsea the coach-killer: Pochettino is gone! So, what about Chelsea? They still have three more candidates to choose from, but as Daily Mail writes, the Blues are moving towards appointing Leicester boss Enzo Maresca as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor. Apparently, the talks accelerated over the weekend and it is believed that the Italian is open to joining Chelsea despite earning promotion with the Foxes into the Premier League last season. He fits the profile that the Blues owners are looking for: a young, progressive head coach that can grow with the team. The fact that Maresca, who worked under Pep Guardiola managed to get Leicester back to the Premier League after only one year in his first managerial season is what they like the most. It is expected that the process will end soon and that the Italian will be the new Chelsea boss. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8126185##
