Adebayo Olayemi’s travels briefly after leaving the Kenyan top flight a few years ago have seen him tread on waters he initially thought not possible. From winning the Somali league championship to trying out in the Zambian Super league, the once promising youngster now takes a brief rest at home in Nigeria while plotting his next move.##NAJAVA_MECA_8136647##Having turned out for Police FC in the Beninese second tier in the just-concluded season, Adebayo, once lighting up the flanks for now-defunct Chemelil Sugar FC, says he had to keep fit after running into a little work permit stumbling block in Zambia.‘’I was actually in the books of Zambian side Kabwe Warriors but work permit issues took too long to be sorted. A loan spell at FC Musa in the second division kept me active but that wasn’t enough for me. I had been signed to play in the premiership. When I saw that the issue was taking too long, I had to make the decision to go somewhere close to home,’’ reveals Adebayo.Benin shares a border with his home country, Nigeria; as such, playing in their league didn’t require much of a work permit and has guided Police to a 6th-place finish in the second tier.Tanzanian striker Kelvin Pius John joins Denmark’s Aalborg BKHaving signed just a short-term contract, he is as free as a bird and even flirts with the idea of returning to Kenya if a good offer falls on his table.‘’I deserve a little reset, so while I am here at home, I’ll be doing just that as I plan my next move. Of course, there are a few offers already, but I need some time to think. My former parent club, Kabwe Warriors, still fancy the idea of me returning to Zambia, so there’s that,’’ he says.Asked whether he would consider returning to the league that gave him his first semi-professional bow with Chemelil Sugar, Olayemi doesn’t rule this out.‘’There’s a lot of maturity that one gains when you play in different leagues within the continent and I believe I have done just that in a very short time. I am a different calibre of player presently, not the young boy I was when at Chemelil and if a good offer comes even from Kenya, I’ll be open to it,’’ he adds.Shabana using international break to recharge ahead of crucial matchesThe forward also had a stint with another defunct team, Nakumatt FC, while in Kenya and played alongside Ugandan Hashim Sempala and Kenyan Harrison Mwendwa at Kabwe Warriors.
