Kisumu Peer Educators (KISPED) Queens’ head coach, Daniel Minjis, believes his team is ready to grace the Kenyan Women’s Premier League (WPL) from next season and will give a good account of themselves.KISPED gained promotion to the Premier League after defeating Kayole Starlets by a solitary goal scored by Lynda Okoside Ajwang’ in the promotion/relegation playoff played on Saturday, 8th June, at Dandora Stadium.##NAJAVA_MECA_8153013##“I first want to start by thanking God and the players. It has not been an easy task to reach here. We have worked very hard from the time we were playing in the regionals to Division 1 and from the National Super League (NSL) to now the Women’s Premier League.”Minjis is confident that his team will perform better despite being established in 2021, growing through the ranks, and now making their maiden appearance in the Premier League.“I know we will perform well. I know how my team plays and want to assure all that we will not be a pushover,” said Minjis. He said they have gauged themselves by playing against Premier League teams in tournaments and friendlies, such as Police Bullets, Vihiga Queens, and Ulinzi Starlets, and believes they are ready to compete. The coach will also rely on some of the experienced players and those with Premier League experience to help the team settle in, such as captain Lynda Choka, Okoside, and Aliya.“We will also make a few signings to boost the team after identifying where there is a gap that needs to be filled.”Minjis, who has been in charge of KISPED as head coach just this season, also took time to celebrate his achievement.“It is also an achievement on my end as a coach. This is my first season as the head coach. Previously, I was serving as the assistant but was handed over the team this season, and I have guided it to promotion.”KISPED joins another lakeside team, Kisumu All Starlets, and Mombasa Queens, who also gained promotion to the Premier League.
