No girl will be left behind because of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams when the Junior Starlets leave for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, taking place from October 16th to November 3rd this year, FKF has announced. Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa confirmed that the federation and the Ministry of Sports will engage the Ministry of Education to find a solution to the scheduling conflict affecting the Junior Starlets’ camp.##NAJAVA_MECA_8161497##The Junior Starlets qualified for the World Cup after securing a 2-0 win over Burundi in the return leg of the fourth-round qualifier on Sunday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, courtesy of two first-half goals by Marion Serenge and Valarie Nekesa, making it 5-0 on aggregate. With up to eight Form Four students in the squad, there is concern that the tournament might coincide with this year’s KCSE exams. This could potentially prevent the students from participating in the World Cup. However, the FKF president reassured that this will not be the case.“I spoke to the Minister about it. We are not going to leave any girl behind because of the Form Four examinations. They have worked so hard to go to the World Cup,” said Mwendwa.Mwendwa emphasized the federation’s determination to ensure all the girls travel to the World Cup: “The World Cup comes once in a lifetime, and we can reschedule the exams to March next year. If necessary, we will carry teachers with us to the camp,” he added.Pamzo terms win over AFC Leopards morale booster in Shabana’s quest for survivalMwendwa cited the example of Lamine Yamal, who is participating in the ongoing Euros in Germany for Spain while still a student, highlighting that such opportunities should not be missed due to exams.“It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them,” he noted.Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche, in her post-match press conference, expressed hope for a resolution: “We hope the Form Four students in the team will be able to sit for the examinations later so that they can participate in the World Cup.”Some of the Form Four students in the team include goalscorer Serenge from Archbishop Njenga Girls High School and dependable right-back Christine Adhiambo from Nyakach Girls High School.COSAFA reveal key rules, regulations to be followed in 2024 cup
