Ambitious Sifuna eyeing brace in the final round of the season

Kakamega Homeboyz winger Ambrose Sifuna is hoping to find the back of the net at least twice in the final game of the season and finish as the club’s top scorer in the 2023–2024 campaign. The team takes on Tusker on Sunday afternoon in Nairobi. Sifuna has so far found the back of the net five times in the season that comes to a close this weekend, and he could become the club’s best scorer in it if he scores at least twice. He trails the duo of assistant captain Brian Eshihanda and Moses Shumah by a goal, as the duo has so far scored six goals apiece. Despite being a defender, Eshihanda has managed six league goals, mostly from his aerial prowess in set pieces. Homeboyz will wrap up the campaign with a clash against Tusker in Nairobi, a game in which Sifuna hopes to get a brace or more so as to achieve his individual target. Sifuna has been on top of his game in the last two league matches against Murang’a Seal and Nairobi City Stars, as he got the ball past the line in both. “I wish to finish the season as the club’s top scorer. We will be up against a tough opponent, but I am confident in getting a brace. The win against Seal will definitely inspire us to a strong finish,” he said. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8167940##Reflecting on the season the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions had, Sifuna regretted that the team didn’t achieve its targets. The Homeboys weren’t successful in defending the cup after being tossed out by KCB in the quarterfinals staged at Dandora Stadium. Argentina begin Copa title defence with 2-0 win over CanadaAdditionally, the team blew hot and cold consistently in the league race and has slender chances of finishing inside the top five brackets. “Truth be told, it has been a disappointing season for us. Expectations were high for another title, but we didn’t manage. We were unlucky in the cup, and a lack of consistency in the league hurt our chances. We, however, picked lessons and the experience to sustain a successful league onslaught,” he added. Sifuna joined Homeboyz last year after parting ways with 2009 league champion Sofapaka. He helped the club win the cup last year in the final stage at Kasarani Stadium, where Homeboyz beat Tusker 1-0.
