A touch of destiny

Sometimes, people simply cannot decide what they want to do in life. Sometimes, they follow in their parents’ footsteps; sometimes, they are really talented in some profession; and sometimes, they just start doing anything to make a living. In a bunch of similar cases, once in a while (and that while is a long time, though), a person with a mark of destiny appears, and you can tell, by that mark, that they are predestined to do something. Or, in the case of Lamine Yamal, a person can be touched by destiny itself at the age of only six months. This has to be the greatest script ever written 😂 Back in 2007, Lionel Messi posed for a charity calendar with a baby who just so happens to be Barcelona’s newest star, Lamine Yamal… At the time, Yamal was less than a year old 🤯The 16-year-old was always destined for… pic.twitter.com/YtAJWFc66u— FootballJOE (@FootballJOE) July 5, 2024 A photo of Lionel Messi giving a bath to a baby and posing for a charity calendar back in 2007 at first glance doesn’t mean a lot. However, what if that is not A baby? What if that’s THE baby? The baby that became the youngest player to feature at EURO, the first Spaniard with three or more assists at major tournaments since 1966, the youngest-ever scorer for Spain, and currently the assist leader at EURO 2024. Yeah, you guessed it. The baby is – Lamine Yamal!Lamine Yamal is the first Spanish player since 1966 to record 3 or more assists in a major international competition. No player has provided more assists than Lamine Yamal (3) at EURO 2024. pic.twitter.com/mAOfqqHAPG— Adithya Reddy (fan) (@AdithyaReddy_20) July 6, 2024 Back in 2007, Messi was just another 20-year-old Barcelona youngster threatening to become a world-class player. The talent, potential, and dedication were there, but who could’ve imagined that years later, we would refer to him as one of the greatest ever? No one. Then, on the other side, we have Yamal. The 16-year-old is currently one of the most important Barca and Spain players. His teams’ gameplays and tactics are based on him and his abilities. The opponents are afraid of him and make plans how to stop him. All eyes in European and even world football are on him. And when you begin your career that way, who can tell where you will end and how far you can go?Yamal finishes high-school while playing at EUROIf with Messi, nobody could be sure, with Yamal everyone’s almost certain, not that he could be, but that he already is a new big thing in football. Something that hasn’t appeared since Leo and Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, it’s only up to him, but if he continues shining like he’s done so far, he’ll join the latter two in the selected company of the greatest players who have ever touched the ball and stepped on the pitch. Not even for a quarter of a BILLION eurosEven the saying claims one cannot escape their fate. In the end, how on Earth could Yamal escape when destiny itself came to him in a blue plastic bathtub and touched him through the hands of another magician in football boots? And now, after watching him play against (and with) much stronger and more experienced players (and is there even anyone less experienced than him; he is only 16, for God’s sake?!), we can be sure: he is not escaping, he’s running towards it, spreading his arms to embrace it.EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP – 1/4 FINALSFridaySpain – Germany 2-1 (0-0) AET/Olmo 52, Merino 119 – Wirtz 89/Portugal – France 3-5 on pen (0-0)Saturday19:00: (2.35) England (3.20) Switzerland (3.55)22:00: (1.65) Netherlands (4.10) Turkey (5.80)***odds are subject to change***
