Veteran Super League goalkeeper Omar Ligingo hangs gloves

Long-serving National Super League (NSL) goalkeeper Omar Ligingo has officially hung up his gloves following a glittering thirteen-year career.Ligingo announced on Monday afternoon through a long, touching Facebook post that paid glowing tribute to his family, fans and coaches he interacted with during the playing time.The shot-stopper known for his antics and cat-like reflexes in goal featured for Sofapaka, Modern Coast Rangers (Mombasa Elite), Nairobi City Stars, Horsed in Somalia, the now-defunct Nairobi Stima, FC Talanta, Malindi United and Kibera Black Stars.“Today is a difficult day for me, but it is also a day of reflection and gratitude. During my 13 years as a football player, I’ve always pursued success and winning football games while preparing and training with the highest standards of competition, passion and perseverance.”“It has been an honour to represent my family, my teammates and the fans who supported me. With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart. I have chosen to end my football career,” read a post on his Facebook page.“This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honourable action to take at this time in my life. I cherished every moment of my football career, and it has been such a blessing to play the game for as long as I have played.
