As the Solheim Cup nears, here’s a look at who’s trending to make the U.S. team and who’s not

Lauren Coughlin’s run at the Amundi Evian Championship didn’t end with a trophy, but it did vault her into a solid position for Stacy Lewis’ Solheim Cup team. The chance to compete for Team USA so close to home is a mammoth opportunity for the Virginia-based Coughlin, and the 31-year-old has all but locked it up.

The fourth-place finish in France pushed Coughlin up the Solheim Cup points list into sixth position. The top seven players off that list qualify for the team along with the top two players in the Rolex Rankings not otherwise qualified. Coughlin moved up 19 spots in the rankings to No. 37.

As it stands now, with Rose Zhang No. 8 on the points list, she’d be the first on the team off Rolex Rankings at No. 9 in the world. Alison Lee is second on that list at No. 24.

Lewis will then add three captain’s picks. The points cutoff for the Solheim Cup is immediately after next month’s AIG Women’s British Open at St. Andrews. There are five tournaments left on the LPGA schedule before the team will be finalized.

Here are the top seven players on the most current points list, with Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu already mathematically locking up their spots:

  • Korda
  • Vu
  • Ally Ewing
  • Allisen Corpuz
  • Megan Khang
  • Coughlin
  • Andrea Lee.
