The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) End of Season Gala Awards will be held on Friday 26 July after a three year hiatus.The federation attributed the 36-month break to lack of funds following turbulent times, first with Covid-19 and also FIFA suspensions that brought about instability in Kenyan football.Most importantly, it is the first time that there will be a gala award for the Women Premier League, quite a significant step and achievement to the ever growing women football in the country.AFC Leopards tie down rookie with two year contractWhile inviting club chairmen to the event, FKF Secretary General and CEO Barry Otieno described it as an opportunity to celebrate and award top performers.“This gala is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and sportsmanship displayed throughout the 2023/2024 FKF League season,” reads part of the invite.On the federation‘s website, they described it as an event to recognize stakeholders##NAJAVA_MECA_8228986##“This is an event to recognize the most outstanding stakeholders in Kenyan football, including players, match officials, partners and fans from the just concluded FKF Premier League and Women Premier League…” reads the statement in part.According to FKF, the awards will cover various categories in the game that includes;Player of the Year- awarded to the most exceptional player in terms of performance, skills and their contribution to the team’s success.Kenyan trio nominated for Tanzania’s end of season awardsGolden Glove- Awarded to the best goalkeeper in the league.
