CAF workshop in Cairo highlights need for strong communication structures in African football

The CAF Communications Workshop held in Cairo, Egypt emphasized the need for Member Associations and Zonal Unions to establish effective structures to communicate the progress in African football. Over 30 participants from CAF Member Associations attended the two-day workshop held the Cairo International Stadium.The workshop focused on the theme: “Your Story Matters: Why African football needs to tell its story”.##NAJAVA_MECA_8256654##CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, highlighted the importance of Africa keeping pace with global communication practices, as demonstrated during the recent TotalEnergies CAF AFCON.“Communication was one of the best-performing departments at the Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 because we had the best people. The world of football is changing, and so is communication. The demands are changing, and thanks to forward-thinking individuals at CAF, Africa is not being left behind,” said Mosengo-Omba.CAF’s Luxolo September noted that CAF has made significant strides in shaping the narrative of African football through strategic communications. This includes the CAF Future Media Officers program, which has produced graduates working at the ongoing Olympics and future FIFA competitions. He also mentioned the women’s AFCON in Morocco, where all communications were handled by women.“We are making progress, and we believe that even more can be achieved by working together with our Member Associations,” September added.The workshop featured experienced speakers who have been involved in communication strategies for major international sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup and the NBA.
