One German international out, other in: Borussia sign Beier

New coach, new CEO, new players. Not all of them, but a couple, either to fill the gap left by the departing footballers or to strengthen a critical area (like defense). Borussia Dortmund is on the rise in this transfer window and new coach and former player Nuri Sahin is shaping his squad with the help of sporting director Sebastian Kehl and future CEO Lars Ricken. Today they found a great replacement to departed Niklas Fullkurg. The Millionaires have swamped one German international with the other one, and signed Maximilian Beier on a five year deal. Welcome to Dortmund, Maxi! 🖤💛 pic.twitter.com/8G8ffbiHXr— Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) August 12, 2024 The youngster swapped Hoffenheim with a bigger club and will replace his teammate from Germany squad Fullkrug, who signed with West Ham. BVB made a great deal as they shipped the 31-year old striker and changed him with a younger (and cheaper one). The another big advantage for Beier is versatility. He can play either as a central striker instead of Guerassy, or with him as a second striker, or behind him, or on the wings. “I‘m proud to be able to play for one of the best teams in Europe from now on and extremely motivated to get started and bring joy to the fans. The club’s goals and mine are the same: We want to win titles. I will give everything to achieve that” said Beier. Former Arsenal director on the brink of sackSporting director Sebastian Kehl was also happy. “Maxi was our absolute dream player after the departure of Niclas Füllkrug. Despite his young age, he is already very composed on the pitch and impresses with his speed, his willingness to run and his goal threat. He can also be used in various positions and in different systems“ he explained. A mature transfer: 31-year old Fullkurg goes to London for 30 millionHoffenheim initially allegedly demanded a base transfer fee of 35 million euros plus 15 million euros in bonus payments. Now, however, a quick agreement has been reached. This is probably also because Beier clearly signaled to TSG that he wants to move as soon as possible, so the deal was struck at nearly 30 million euros, which will be easily achieved through bonuses. Last season he scored 16 goals in competitive matches. In Dortmund he will form the new top attack together with Serhou Guirassy (28/still injured). Beier’s debut in black and yellow could take place next Saturday in the DFB Cup against regional league team Phönix Lübeck. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8262454##
